Perfect getaway, arrive early for parking because after you finish the trail and walk back to your car, you'll see why you want to arrive early. The grade is not so steep, do take water, watch out for the mountain bikers some are kind, most were rude. Also, if you have knee issues take it easy on your descent. If it hot wear sunscreen, dark shades and a hat, the sun hits different and you will tan or burn. My last observation, im not sure if they were mosquitoes or biting flies , next time I'm spraying bug off or keeping the can with me. Other than my experience, it is a pleasant experience. We had a 7 & 8 year old team of kids that walked the trail. The deer 🦌 experience was amazing and serene, the breeze was great for practicing breath work and grounding. If you know, you know; if not try this: Soon as you sense a breeze form, place whatever your holding on the ground. Extend your arms outward as if your about to receive a hug. Close your eyes and inhale the breeze through your nose as soft as you can. Allow the breeze to enter, imagine the breeze as pure soft light entering you and cleansing your organs as you hold for 6 seconds. Smile and exhale for a count of 8 . Do this in synchronization with the breeze. I hope you try it and as you get better with practice incorporate the belly breath activate Chi from your panties. You'll be surprised by connecting with the YOU in you.

Canyon trail is easy 2 hours there and back. Some slight inclines but overall level. Feels very safe. Cool facts about parks history and i saw a buncha deer!! You have to go after a rain to see waterfall. It was all dried up. I may try the harder trail next time. Cool bird sanctuary.

Tons of free parking. No entry fee for the park. Hikes vary from flat nature hikes to multi-hour treks across the hills. Great museum and nature center with injured birds of prey in cages. A volunteer even had a great horned owl out for us to see. Very east hike to the historic cabin and golden oak. Still lots of stuff in bloom in June.

Perfect spot for all levels and dog-friendly. We loved seeing the beautiful birds at the nature rehab center. There are trail maps, plenty of parking, benches and trash/recycling bins, a bathroom, tons of picnic tables, a butterfly garden, a historic cabin, a pond, a dry creek bed, and there was even a little amphitheater/stage area with benches that looked suitable for a wedding or small concert.

Enjoyed coming here! Had a good time seeing the birds and hearing the noises from all the different animals from the from the display cases. The bee case was fascinating because it was opened in on the back and bees were entering it naturally and adding to their hive. In the back there is a walking trail and you can come here for for special events.
